It's been a long time coming...

I have missed a large chapter of blogging due to the birth of my son. I think if someone had told me it wasn't a good idea to start a blog while you're pregnant, I probably would have ignored them and done it anyway! I was on maternity leave and well, what else was I supposed to do with my time?!
I will leave the formal introduction for another post. I have learnt that as much as I would like to record events in chronological order, it is just not realistic for me, for now...

So, down to the nitty gritty - literally! I'm de-cluttering! It's only taken me about 10 years to get around to it! I never really 'nested' as will be explained in the introduction of our little one, who is now 8 months by the way!! so we live in an organised chaos as I have always done! I get it from my mother who would always let things build up and then have a big clean up rather than little and often. Looking back, she was a single mum and worked part time too so I can understand why that was the way she did things.
I want to live a more simple life. One where I can invite people in for coffee without worrying about the state of our front room and more importantly a peaceful place for our son to grow up in. You can follow my journey.
I discovered a blog, written by a fellow mum and home manager who was running 'Project: Simplify'. 'your home. five weeks. five hot spots. organised.' During March 7 - April 8 2011. Good timing, I'll do it! She had me hooked already, I read on, 'If you’ve always wanted to really declutter your home, but lose hope or steam after just a few hours, this will be the ticket.' That's me! Furthermore, I bought her book, to keep up my momentum for week 1...

The Wardrobe - Before
And After!

Week 2 starts tomorrow and I feel I've made great progress so far!
It's been a long time coming!

New Beginnings

So today is day 2 of my maternity leave and although I have a list as long as my arm of things I should be doing, writing a blog appears to be top of list right now. But where to start?! Every story needs a beginning and this starts here.
I got married on September 1st 2009 to my Beau, Andrew.

It was such a beautiful day. I made all the stationary myself, invitations complete with response cards and envelopes, order of service, confetti boxes, even the favours and memory candles.

The cake, was the best chocolate and brady cake with marzipan we have ever tasted. I will be ordering an 'anniversary' version!
3 months later, we're starting a family! this puts the honeymoon on hold for a while, until April actually! So we jetted off to the picture perfect Meeru Island Resort in the Maldives for 2 whole weeks, plus an extra night free because of the giant ash cloud that bought Europe to a standstill. We of course had no objections!...well would you if you were here...

So now it's July and although this baby isn't due until August 19th, it will be with us in about 3 weeks, one way or another as needs to be born at 37weeks so will be a July baby after all. Will still be a Leo though so I'm happy!
Here's to new beginnings!
